As retailer strive to be more inclusive, American Eagle has decided to follow suit, adding a hijab to their new collection.
The hijab is worn by model Halima Aiden, who was featured on the cover of Allure‘s July American Beauty issue.
The head covering is available online right now for $19.95, with the product description encouraging shoppers to “Wear it your way. Make it as original as you are.”
American Eagle have been receiving a lot of support on social media for their decision to start selling hijabs – being the only mainstream fashion brand doing so.
Honestly it’s kind of exciting to see American eagle come out with a denim hijab, like go you, you’re doing amazing sweetie 👏🏽 pic.twitter.com/krES8x5so7

Even though many people are responding positively at the moment, we would not be surprised if some Muslim women and brands accuse American Eagle of cultural appropriation.
